The Gallery
Founded in 1967 by Luciano Ravagnan, the Ravagnan Gallery has been dealing, promoting, selling and exhibiting both modern and contemporary art in the heart of Venice (Saint Mark's square, 50/A).
The Gallery represents a benchmark for art lovers, giving life to local and international art collections, especially in terms of painting, sculpture and mixed techniques. Among the gallery’s history of expositions, the most outstanding have been those dedicated to famous artists such as Renato Guttuso (1969), Lucio Fontana (1970), Victor Vasarelly (1972) Salvatore Scarpitta (1972), Hans Hartung (1972), Karel Appel (1973), Achille Perilli (1974), Fabrizio Plessi (1977), Antonio Corpora (1988), Fulvio Roiter (1994), Aron Demetz (2000), Mimmo Rotella (2009), Bruno Catalano (2017).
With 50 years of experience the Ravagnan Gallery has established an exclusive reputation and has formed partnerships and collaborations with others artistic institutions of the city. The gallery has collaborated with Palazzo delle Prigioni, here, exhibitions were dedicated to Miguel Berrocal (1972), Giulio Turcato (1973), Emil Schumacher (1975), Andy Warhol (1977), Antonio Ligabue (1982), Mario Schifano (1984), Joan Miró (1985), Giorgio De Chirico (1987), Ludovico De Luigi (1988), Andrea Vizzini (1988), Vincenzo Eulisse (1991) and Riccardo Licata (2000). Further to this, within the Museo di Sant'Appollonia, the Ravagnan Gallery presented an anthological show by Fortunato Depero (1992).
Today, under the leadership of the sons Carlo and Chiara, the Ravagnan Gallery organizes personal and collective exhibitions closely with a group of emerging and affirmed artists of different generations and nationalities.
The Gallery is located under the arcades of Procuratie Nuove, on the east side of St. Mark's square, distance walking from the bell tower.
In 2019, the Ravagnan Gallery opened a second gallery in Venice, at Dorsoduro, 686, next to the Peggy Guggenheim Foundation.
Di origini miste e mediterranee, Bruno Catalano nasce in Marocco nel 1960. Nel 1975 è costretto all'esilio con la sua famiglia. Sbarcato a Marsiglia con la speranza di ricominciare una nuova vita, conserva nella memoria il dolore del proprio sradicamento. A 18 anni diventa marinaio, poi elettricista, a 30 incontra
l'arte e la scultura in argilla attraverso artisti come Rodin, Giacometti, César. Da quel momento decide di consacrarvi la propria esistenza.
